Created From Lived Experience
After our first baby, we had a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, and then a high risk pregnancy. At our 20-week anatomy scan, we learned I had cervical insufficiency and underwent an emergency rescue cerclage. Just days later, my water broke, and what we thought would be a short hospital stay became 87 days of antepartum bedrest, followed by 46 days in the NICU after our daughter, Lorelai, was born at 31 weeks and 6 days. During those months, we celebrated my son's fourth birthday and my baby shower at the hospital, grieved the loss of normal life, and experienced the fear, isolation, and loss of control that so many high-risk pregnancy and NICU families know all too well. Before we even knew she was a girl, God placed the name Lorelai Hope on my heart—a name that became my daily reminder to keep holding onto Him through the hardest season of our lives.
Today, I get to hold my Hope in my arms, and Holding Hope was born from that journey. Through the faithfulness of God, the incredible care of our medical team, and the prayers of so many, our family experienced hope in the darkest of places. Now our mission is to share that hope with other families walking through high-risk pregnancies, NICU stays, pregnancy loss, and long hospital journeys by providing practical support, encouragement, and reminders that they are never alone. We pray every act of kindness points people to the One who carried us through it all.
