Each year on October 15, families around the world participate in International Wave of Light by lighting a candle at 7:00 PM local time in memory of babies and children gone too soon. As each time zone lights their candle, a continuous wave of light circles the globe—a beautiful reminder that every life, no matter how brief, leaves a lasting light.
Whether you or a loved one experienced an early miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, infant loss, or the loss of a child later in life, this candle was created to honor your little one and remind you that their life mattered.
Each candle is personalized with the name you'd like to remember, making it a meaningful keepsake to light year after year.

Our Story & How This Candle Gives Back

This collection is incredibly personal to our family.
After welcoming our son, Ryman, we experienced the heartbreaking loss of a miscarriage, followed just weeks later by an ectopic pregnancy and emergency surgery on New Years Eve night.
When we became pregnant with our daughter, Lorelai, we never imagined what would come next. Due to severe pregnancy complications, Ashley spent 87 days on antepartum between Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown and Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford in Nashville, TN before Lorelai was born prematurely at 31 weeks and spent extended time in the NICU.
Those hospitals became our home during one of the hardest seasons of our lives. We know what it feels like to grieve, to hope, and to wait.
This candle is our way of honoring babies gone too soon while giving back to the hospitals and families that forever changed our lives.
Giving Back
20% of the profits from every Wave of Light candle will be donated to support antepartum moms on hospital bedrest and families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss at Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown and Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford.

Your candle will be handcrafted throughout September and will ship at the end of September so it arrives in time for October 15 – International Wave of Light Day.
Because each candle is personalized, orders cannot be changed or canceled once production begins.

FAQ
Can I purchase this as a gift for someone else?
Absolutely!! What a wonderful way to honor the little life of a family member or friends baby. At checkout, be sure to put the address you would like the candle shipped to - whether that be your home or the candle recipients home.
We didn't name our baby. Can we still participate?
Yes! We welcome all families to participate, whether or not you named your baby. We've seen families use a nickname, "Baby" followed by their last name (for example, Baby Davis), or another variation that feels meaningful to them.
Can I submit more than one name?
Yes! You can order a separate candle for each baby, OR combine them into one candle. For example: "The Davis Babies" or Hattie Jane and Sara Lee
How will the 20% donation be spent?
We are SO excited to be able to use these candles to not only honor little lives, but also support families experiencing loss or extended antepartum stays by donating 20% of our profits. We will be working with the chaplain at each of these hospitals to get an idea of what they see antepartum and loss families needing most - and purchasing and hand delivering those products to the hospitals before Oct. 15th.
How do I request a name change or spelling correction?
Please email your order number and correction to candlesbyadad@gmail.com within 48hrs of your purchase. After that, we will no longer be able to make corrections.
